Description

Traditional Polish dumplings filled with a mixture of potatoes and cheese, perfect comfort food with a rich history.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 250ml warm water
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 400g potatoes
  • 250g twaróg (cottage cheese)
  • 1 onion
  • Pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine flour and salt in a bowl, add warm water and oil, and knead until smooth.
  2. Boil potatoes until tender and mash them.
  3. Fry chopped onion in butter until golden and mix with the mashed potatoes and twaróg.
  4. Roll out the dough, cut circles with a glass, and fill each with a small amount of filling.
  5. Fold and seal the edges tightly.
  6. Boil the pierogi in salted water for a few minutes until they float.
  7. Serve with sautéed onions or sour cream.

Notes

For best results, make sure the edges of the pierogi are well sealed to prevent them from falling apart during cooking.
